Getting to Sensuikan from Nearby Airports
Traveling to Sensuikan, nestled in the picturesque Kusatsu Onsen, is a delightful journey that begins at one of the nearby airports. The closest major airport is Matsumoto Airport (MMJ), located approximately 120 kilometers away. From the airport, you can take a direct bus service to Nagano Station, which takes around 1. Once at Nagano Station, transfer to the JR Nagano Line and board a train heading to Nagano. After arriving at Nagano, switch to the limited express train bound for Kusatsu Onsen, which will take you through stunning mountain landscapes, enhancing your travel experience. The total travel time from Matsumoto Airport to Sensuikan is roughly 3 to 4 hours, depending on connections. Alternatively, if you're flying into Tokyo, Narita International Airport (NRT) or Haneda Airport (HND) are your best options. From Narita, take the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, then switch to the Shinkansen (bullet train) heading to Nagano. This journey takes about 2.
