Our stay in Ca' Opera guest house was very eventful and quite interesting. It started off by the owner not picking us up like we discussed, being almost 2 hours late. Communication was a big problem. In the end we had to find our way on our own. When we arrived the cleaning lady was still working on the room and was not good at her profession which we found out later. The apartment was VERY dirty, the dishes were still wet yet dirty, our towels had brown and red stains and holes. There was hair on the bed sheets, floors and the bathroom. The bathroom was relatively big compared to the rest of the apartment which was tiny and looked surprisingly different than the pictures online. The so called kitchen is inside a closet which is max. 1m wide. There was no sharp knife nor kitchen equipment. Additionally the fridge is smaller than a mini bar in a hotel. The bathroom door knob cannot close the door since it is lose, the tiles are missing and the wall is coming off at some parts and everywhere on the walls (not only bathroom) is mold. There is not much light coming through the windows so you never know what time of day it might be. However the voices outside , that come from the tour guides passing through might indicate that it is time to get up. The windows are being used as storage space of the cleaning equipment, leaving you with a "spectacular" view into the backyard. The entrance of the guest house also includes a random shower cabin that's been there for a while. What we questioned the most during our stay was the odd smell in our apartment. It could have come from the humidity in here (which also made our package of salt very moist) however until the end we could not tell where it came from. Last but certainly not least our chairs were a literal pain in the ass because they were broken and made noises at every movement. There was trash from previous guests in the drawers. When we took a look at it we saw that the trash was an expired train ticket from 2014 which led us to the conclusion that the drawers hadn't been cleaned ever since. All in all we still had a great stay with countless laughs and new surprises every day, the location was also very central and there was wifi even though it said in the description there wasn't. We can only recommend not looking around too much in the apartment or else you'll find things you didn't wanna see, like a secret dirty cabin behind the bathroom mirror. Come find out yourself. Have a lovely stay!
This appartment is situated right in the heart of Venice. Nevertheless it is quiet enough. There are a kitchen with all necessary stuff and a big comfortable bathroom inside. It is easy to find the property if you have a city map. By the way we have got one from the hostess what was put to very good use!
--- NO RECOMMENDATION!!! --- Good: Friendly lady, room is very central to San Marco Piazza. Fresh towels. Air conditioner. She gave us a detailed map of Venice and showed us a close supermarket and a place to dine! That was a really nice recommendation!!! The bedroom faced the backyard, so it was quiet enough for a sound sleep. Bad: When we arrived to Venice we had to wait for her for almost 1 hour to be picked up at the Vaparetto Station!!! That was a waste of time and quite annoying. Then, apparently we were not given the room we originally booked... (She said she gave us the "bigger" room) Really bad: There was NO HOT WATER for the 3 days we stayed there!!! (at least: a little $ discount was given on that..but still! NO GO!!) On the picture the "superior" room that we booked looked really "glamourous" to us. In fact: it's totally not. Cheap furniture, no hot water, no fridge, odd smell and dark!! We still had a good stay in Venice but if you're looking for a nice, romantic, good smelling room, book another hotel which is hopefully worth the money!!!
Great apartment and amazing location for a good price. The communication with Gracia (the owner) was fast and clear. Her brother waited for us at the dock and brought us to the apartment 2min. walk from St. Marco. We had a great time! Thanks you.
We had a very nice time in Ca'Opera where we have spent 5 days. The owner who speaks english and italian, is very helpful and expected us at the vaporetto station and with a little walk (5min) we got to the appartment. It was clean and nicely furbised, exactly like on the photo. In the morning we woke up and heard the singers of the gondolas from the nearby canale (around 20 m far). The house is facing to a nice, very little square. It is a bit noisy though especially when tourist groups walk by but given the centrality of the building it is normal. It is worth to consider the recommendation of the owner regarding the restaurants to try.
It`s in the best place of venice, very close to piazzale st Marco. Beautiful but lacks of important equipement like for example hair drier, a fridge. anyway i`d go back for sure !!
The only good thing about this hostel is the location, 5 min from San Marco's Square, in a very quiet area. Not as quiet as the neighbours, which wakes us up at 7 am each morning, talking very loud. We have stayed 7 nights, but we didn't meet the owner, she not even answered at the phone, nobody changes the towels, the trash has to be removed by the guests, as says the notification on the door, the glasses and the soap were missing, the hair dryer was broken, we had only a roll of toilet paper. The room is very very tight, with basic facilities, except a day and a half when the water was missing, because they didn't pay it. So, I don't think the owner cares about her guests, she is only interested on the money, which were collected by her daughter based on a non tax receipt. Even its only a hostel, the price was very high giving the conditions, so I don't recommend it.
The cleaning lady is very friendly. My room is opposite a hotel dinning room, specious but with a strong smell of sewage at the entrance. I might won't go back on this account.
A very pleasant studio, wonderfull location (5 min. from St. Marc Sq., but still quiet area), clean. Could be a little better equiped (intended for 4 persons, there are 3 chairs, there is not a corkscrew (how to open a wine???!!). Staff very nice and helpfull
The location was the best thing. The room was very tight. When I booked, I really believed that I was booking a double flat - not just a room. It was not clear in your website that it was just a room. The ad was called "Flats for rent" and not "flats and rooms". I was very disappointed. The person who met me "Elvis" was OK, but really only cared about getting the money immediately - He did not seem concerned about me - only the money. He tried alot to get me to upgrade to a more expensive room. He was a bit uppity telling me that I booked "the cheapest room". He repeated this a few times. He seemed frustrated that I did not upgrade. All in all, there were a few issues, but for the most part, I am satisfied.
The room was basic but adequate. It was clean and spacious. The location was in the middle of Venice and we couldn't be any closer to the action unless we camped in St Marks square. However, the fridge was broken and the tv remote was missing
We 4 have been in another flat than shown but which was "thumbs up" and sooo close to San Marco! If I return to Venice, I will contact the Ca'Opera people, who were very nice and caring. Thanks!
We were told prior to our arrival that the original accomadation had a problem, so they organised another place that was excelant. nice and quiet, good location, perfect.
The hostel was in the perfect location, it was lovely and clean and spacious and the decor was very pretty. For the price, this is a brilliant place to stay- right next to St. Marks Square and so close to the Giardini. I would definitely stay here again.
very nice location, very butiful room, very clean, it is like a small hotel, i RECOMAND!
