Sperlonga is a pictoresque seaside resort built on a cliff overlooking the sea, with a beautiful view on the Mediterranean. The city centre includes an old fishermen harbour with narrow alleys and white-washed houses. Sand beaches stretch for almost 10 km interrupted by rocks and sea grottoes. One of those is the famous Tiberius'grotto, discovered in the 50's, where you can see the remains of the Imperial Villa built around a large ornamental pool which extends into a large grotto in the cliffs. The near Archeological Museum preserves findings from the Villa itself, including a collection of big statues on Ulysses'myth.
