L'Ospitale delle Rifiorenze is a cheap hostel in the center of Florence, in the popular and historical neighborhood of San Frediano. A ten minute walk from Ponte Vecchio and the train station, l'Ospitale is a quiet, curios, simple and unpretentious place. It represents a different Florence, against the mass tourism of the town. In Florence is the only one of its kind.
The Hostel is located in the Carmine complex, in the great halls of the Ancient Library of the Convent of Santa Maria del Carmine. The rooms have been obtained thanks to prefabricated structures for a total of 80 seats. There is also a big hall, the Tacca Hall, a 120 sqm space available for events of any kind.
The Carmine complex has a double face: in the warm months (April-October) the Cooperative Ospitale hosts national and international travellers, organizes exhibitions, concerts, events and houses courses of yoga, capoeira, and theatre; in the winter months the Caritas offers hospitality to the homeless for the project the 'Cold Emergency', which L'Ospitale delle Rifiorenze supports economically.
Over the years L'Ospitale delle Rifiorenze dedicates itself to responsible tourism; recently
it has been written a guide about paths of a different Florence, unknown and solidal.

    Was not very pleased that a 'private room' was in fact an uninsulated cubicle, where every person snoring could be heard clear as day. The bathrooms were disgusting, so much so I didn't shower while I was there. Blankets insufficient, I was frozen at night!

    I loved the hostel very close to everything there is a supermarket close to it very spacious the bathrooms we a bit far from the room but that is ok I stayed for 3 nights and I will do it again

    It's a really great hostel, lots of space to chill out and meet people. The staff were really nice too, and even bought me a coffee from the hostel's amazing coffee machine. I'd recommend it, but the location is a little bit dodgy, I didn't feel comfortable staying out too late on my own. Rooms are fine, sofas are comfy and it was a great stay.

    Nice place, just lacks some daylight. And the curfew in the afternoon is not the best on a rainy day.

    Nice atmosphere and very quiet. Fascianting ancient fresques on the walls... Internet for free. Rooms with 3 beds are very small but cleaned and comfortable.

    Interesting place, about a 15 min walk from the Ponte Vechio. Could have been a bit better atmosphere.

    Bathrooms were really gross. Really cool place but sort of out of the way. Although it's not a huge problem because Florence is pretty small.

    A very nice spot to stay. The only down side is that the hostel closes from 12 to 3.
