Woodquay Hostel is ideally situated in the heart of Galway City, two minutes walk from Eyre Square and within five minutes walk to all the general amenities. Recently refurbished this family run hostel offers very clean and comfortable hospitality to all our guests.

The Woodquay Hostel is located in the heart of Galway on the west coast of Ireland. We offer comfortable accommodation in a friendly atmosphere at a budget price.
The Woodquay or Barrachalla as it is known locally from the Irish “Barr an Caladh” (Head of the Port) is one of the earliest inhabited areas of Galway. It is so called because Fuel (wood & turf) for the city was landed there by boat.The Woodquay Hostel was taken over in 1991 and is a family run hostel who pride themselves on the facilities and services provided. The hostel is owned by Julie Mulryan-Healy. Julie hails originally from Barna, Glenamaddy and although she has lived in the UK for over

We have 12 rooms in our property which are all in bunk Style.

We have a variety of room types including 8bed, 6bed and 4bed dorms. Some of the rooms are ensuite and some are with shared bathrooms.

We have a self catering kitchen, dinning room area and smoking area at the back of the hostel. The reception is open 24hrs and we can book any tours for Connemara or the Cliffs of Moher which depart daily @ 9.30am. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public areas of the hostel.

We are located in Woodquay which is close to the river Corrib.The main supermarkets are a 2 minute walk from the hostel. We are also located in the city centre near all the restaurants, pubs and touristic sights.

We are a small family run hostel located in the historical part of Galway. We pride ourselves on a friendly welcome and enjoy meeting new guests from around the world.

    If you are a male 20-60 this is the place for you. If you're a female find somewhere else. There is a surprising lack of women staying here, and for a good reason. There is no security and it's overpriced for the lack of accommodations.

    Hi! I spent one night in this hostal to visit Cliffs of Moher the next day. The hostal have the perfect situation to visit the center of Galway ( 10 min on foot) or travel around Galway. However I don't recommend this hostal: 1: The receptionist was very rude and disgreeable with me. 2: I slept in a room with 6 people and at 3:00 am they come to the room shouthing and playing music, continuing doing stupid things for 2 hours ( drank people). The next day I told to the receptionist and her phrase was: " It's normal that drunk people come to the hostal, Ireland has that spirit". 3: It was expensive I d0n't recommend this hostal anyone.

    It was a nice staying! I strongly recommend it for short staying! It's a great position and the rooms are good, and the beds are confortable. Some problem with the shared bathroom, thet were just 3 for 3 floors and only 1 shower!!!! But for easygoing people it's great!

    I was in a room with 6 beds and 8 people sleeping. Some on the couch. The staff entered in the room at 8:00am to open the windows and started to eat their breakfast just in front of us. They were talking and eating just has if the people weren't there. One staff member was sleeping on the couch and he was snorring really loudly, moving and talking also (while sleeping).
