View Strasbourg's sturdy ramparts and canal network, from the top of Vauban Dam in the picturesque Petite France district. The brainchild of 17th-century military engineer Sébastien le Prestre de Vauban, the dam was constructed in 1690 to protect against a river attack.
Nearby, visitors can glimpse the famous ponts couverts (covered bridges), or take a boat along the River Ill.
